Meet the team
There’s nothing better than putting a face to a name so without further ado let’s introduce the warm and welcoming team behind Smiles of Diamond Creek…
Dr Sonia Sahota
Before you speak to Dr Sonia, you’ll be greeted by her beaming smile. Sonia doesn’t just love dentistry, she loves meeting her patients too, so get ready for a warm welcome and maybe even a tasty recipe idea.
Sonia graduated from LaTrobe university with a Masters in Dentistry. In all the years she’s been practicing one thing has always stood out, her passion for high quality dentistry and building her patient’s confidence by giving them strong, healthy smiles. She loves to find ways to help patients stay relaxed and comfortable during their visit; that’s why Smiles of Diamond Creek provides all the little extras, such as Netflix and neck pillows.
Sonia is no stranger to living outside the big cities. She spent many years working in country South Australia and across the South and Western regions of Melbourne. It wasn’t a love of sparkling jewels that drew Sonia to Diamond Creek though, it was the enjoyment of working in a close-knit community where her patients become friends.
If Sonia is away from the practice it’s probably because she’s busy filling up her brain with lots of new dental information. Learning the latest in dentistry skills and technology is really important to Sonia, so she’s always seeking new information to share with her team and patients.
Aside from being a dentist, Sonia is also a cat-lover. If you sneak up on her during a lunch break you might just catch her watching a cat video on YouTube. She’s also passionate about the planet and does everything in her power to be eco-friendly at home and at work. .…Now back to those recipes, if you’ve got any good vegetarian dishes to share, please get in touch!
Dr Andres Aguirre
Dr Andres is originally from Colombia but has been a proud Aussie Dentist since 2002. He’s now a fully-fledged True Blue and proud to be an active member of the Australian Dental Association.
While being a brilliant all-rounder, Dr Andres is also the man to speak to if you’re interested in dental implants. He takes an avid interest in studying the latest implant technology and enjoys working with patients to achieve their goals using dental implants. Andres is also interested in what’s known as the ‘All-on-4’ approach to dental rehabilitation, which helps patients who have very few remaining natural teeth get a life-changing smile.
When Andres isn’t busy being a Dentist you can find him on the dancefloor! He’s a keen salsa dancer and might show you a few moves if you’re lucky! Andres also enjoys watching movies, long bike rides in the fresh air, a challenging table tennis match (are you up to the challenge?) and, of course, a good laugh with his patients and team.
Skye studied at RMIT and has now been in the dental industry for over 8 years. She’s a perfect fit to work at Smiles of Diamond Creek as she loves meeting new people every day and helping them get the help they need.
As well as being our expert dental assistant, Skye is also known for having a touch of wanderlust, and loves travelling far and wide. But it’s not all about fun and relaxing, her most recent trip was to a wildlife farm in Namibia where she volunteered on a research program with wild dogs and elephants. Skye now has a strong interest in learning more about wildlife conservation and will no doubt be out volunteering again soon.
Closer to home, Skye continues her love of animals with her beautiful 3 year old fur baby, a Maremma called Leonardo. ‘I love him more than anything’, she admits. Lucky Leonardo!
